Tips for Painting and Maintaining Your 5cm Miniatures
Working with miniature Gunpla requires patience and precision, especially given the compact 5cm scale. To help you achieve professional results when prepping your models, consider the following actionable hobby tips:
- Use Proper Clippers: Cut parts away from the runner with hobby nippers, leaving a small nub to trim down with a sharp craft knife.
- Prime Before Painting: Apply a thin layer of plastic primer to ensure your acrylic hobby paints adhere smoothly to the unpainted plastic surface.
- Thin Your Paints: Multiple thin coats prevent brush strokes and preserve the intricate mechanical panel lines sculpted into each miniature suit.
- Protect Your Finish: Apply a matte or gloss topcoat sealer once your paint job cures to protect your hard work from chipping during gameplay.
